Murrine

"I have been doing this job since I was seventeen years old, when my father began teaching me the craft that has become my passion and which I think is beautiful!"

The company BIELLE, founded more than seventy years ago by the Cammozzo family, works the "murrina" and creates many colorful pieces of jewelry and furnishings such as plates and bowls. The workshop is quite large but difficult to find in Venice, although it participates more and more often by exhibiting in prestigious events such as the Venice Glass Week, an international event for Murano glass enthusiasts. Gloria leads the craft that deals with both the fusion of glass to obtain the murrine, and the grinding technique to make them smooth. The processing technique is called "mosaic": to form a murrine it is necessary that in the furnace there are crucibles with soft glass in different colors that form rods (or "canes") that inside, and throughout their length, have different decorations and colors.
