Wicker baskets

"Sghiribissi was born from the desire to mix techniques and cultures in a kind of whimsical way, as the squiggles recall the games of creative weaving."

Sghiribissi, a Venetian term for "squiggles", is the name chosen by Giulia Rossi for the creative weaving that characterizes her baskets, made with Venetian beads, with modern lines but which recall, at the same time, ancient and forgotten traditions. The young Venetian entrepreneur learned to model wicker at the basketry school of Erto where she learned the technique of weaving with wicker, marsh grass, and larch. The artisan has enriched and customized her technique and the materials used, incorporating the use of typically Venetian glass beads which give the entirely handmade products an undeniable connection with the Venice lagoon. The Venetian mountains, in fact, played a very important role in the history of the Serenissima and these very special baskets are a tribute to it. In addition to beads, Giulia also uses other materials such as leather, silk, wood, and rubber to achieve particular effects. For the lamp bases, for example, twisted branches and roots bleached by the sea or streams are used.
