Lampwork glass

"I did not and do not presume to "work" the glass, I support it and leave it the task of forging me ... the glass knows how to capture my best features to emphasize its own. In a silent agreement we use each other. Respectfully."

Davide Penso personally designs and works with glass, creating jewelry and sculptures with a contemporary and innovative style. His collections, mainly of glass necklaces, have women's names (Angelika, Daniela, Sandra) or draw inspiration from geometric or cultural elements (doublets, baguettes) always combining colors, shapes, transparencies and a lot of imagination. Davide was born in Venice in 1965; he has a very close relationship with the city but in particular with Murano, where he grew up and still works. Like the great traditional glass masters of Murano, he is particularly reserved about his working techniques, which are exclusive and secret to the point of not wanting to be photographed while he works. After finishing his studies, he dedicated himself to photography for a few years and in 1992 he opened his own atelier, starting a real journey with glass. He has exhibited his works in numerous group and solo exhibitions, in Venice and abroad, also developing collaborations with major companies. Since 2001, he has been teaching glass lampworking, collaborating with the "Abate Zanetti" school of glass in Murano, as well as teaching "Visual Art" at Boston University for several years.
