There are about 280 parts that make up a gondola, a symbolic boat of Venice up to 11 meters long. Each piece has its own function: structural (such as the fir, larch and oak hull assembled by the "squerariòl"), functional (such as the walnut oars made by the “remèr”) or ornamental-decorative (such as the "cavàì", or sea horses placed in the central part on either side of the gondola). The forcola, the ladder on which the only oar leading the gondola rests, is one of the best known pieces of the boat. Also made as a full-size or model furniture item, it also becomes a souvenir bookmark for lovers of Venice.
