Carterìa ai Frari

Elisabetta Casaburi

"For years and years, all our memories have been entrusted to paper, which, in the age of digitalization, is in danger of disappearing. This is why we hope for the rediscovery of the notebook or album for the traveler who values craftsmanship to make each experience unique."

In 2008 Elisabetta Casaburi opened Carterìa ai Frari, just a few steps from the Basilica dei Frari and the Scuola di San Rocco.  Using high quality materials and traditional techniques dating back to the Venetian binding of the fifteenth century, she continues to produce high quality notebooks, albums and diaries. For the creation of her pieces, she uses 100% cotton handmade paper, characterized by a heavily embossed surface and being 100% ecological. The leathers used are vegetable-tanned goat leathers, which are more environmentally friendly and come from Tuscan tanneries. In addition to paper and leather objects, Elisabetta's workshop also sells articles for antique writing, from nibs to feathers, from seals with sealing wax to inkwells and other trinkets such as magnets, stamps, key rings, puzzles, cribs, bookmarks and envelopes, all handcrafted. Passion and competence, as well as working entirely by hand, are a guarantee of quality and authenticity and make every single handmade piece truly unique.
