Patience

Sustainable tailored clothing

"Each of my garments holds hope and ambition. I am driven by the desire to preserve traditional tailoring. Then there are the challenges that I face and choose to fight as a dressmaker (and as a person) that drive me to oppose 'fast fashion', the pace of today's industrial production, the boring conformity of clothing, the exploitation of labor in the production of mass-produced goods, the use of synthetic fabrics, and the water pollution caused by textile dyeing."

"Patience" is a hybrid environment, bringing back traditional tailoring by combining it with the most contemporary trend of handmade and sustainable clothing, ethically designed and made. Daniela Lombardo, a young Italian-American designer, creates tailor-made clothes that respect the environment, starting from the choice of fabrics used, strictly natural and sustainable, to the realization of the garment itself. A work that requires time, dedication and, above all, patience. Hence the choice of the name "Patience", which is also her new exhibition space open to other forms of art and crafts. A particular place that previously housed a shipping company, of departures and returns like those of Daniela. Born in the United States of America but moved to Venice with her family as a child, the artisan has traveled extensively around the world and in 2019 became an artist of the RAW collective, an international organization that supports independent artists that allowed her to organize her first fashion show of handmade and sustainable clothes in Fort Lauderdale. Each of Daniela Lombardo's garments encompasses the hope and ambition of preserving traditional tailoring by juxtaposing it with a sensitivity to sustainable living, slow-paced living and manual labor, all of which led her to design and then sew the clothes she wears as well as those she sells. These clothes have simple and soft lines and want to emphasize and highlight the nature of the fabric. Daniela usually finds the fabrics first and then decides on the pattern. The result is dresses in Italian silk produced by a small factory in Vittorio Veneto, vintage silk inherited from a generous old lady in Padua, natural Italian linen, cotton and silk fabrics, 100% cotton from a local market in Ghana, 100% organic cotton produced in Auroville, India, a small factory that runs entirely on solar energy and uses natural dyes. Still 100% GOTS certified organic cotton produced in Kerala, India, or rather by a small Welsh fair trade company.
