Ceramic Design and Workshop

"Behind all of my collections are my imagination, my experience, my knowledge of ceramics, and my hands."

After earning a degree in languages at the University Ca' Foscari of Venice, Nadia Saponaro left for a trip to Andalusia where she decided to learn the art of ceramics. So she became a ceramist, an artisan expert in some particular techniques such as the "dry rope" (querda seca) that she imported in Venice in 2011. In that year, she began to collaborate with the association "I Bochaleri" that brings together Venetian potters committed to passing on a thousand-year-old Venetian tradition and organizes numerous courses for both adults and children. Her atelier, beautiful and bright, is located in a small calletta in Murano, not surprisingly, near an old ceramic production center. Here the expert artisan creates what she defines as "functional contemporary ceramics": they are objects of daily use (such as tableware and home accessories) where the shape and color are designed to enter into a relationship with the people who use them.
